Maarten van Severen Lounge chair Durlet
This beautiful lounge chair is produced in 2004 for Durlet. the seat can be placed in different positions and rotates around its axis. The relaxation mechanism is synchronously infinitely adjustable, the headrest is also infinitely adjustable. The base is made of sand-cast aluminum. With a simple click on the handle you can place it in any position. Not many designer seats are actually comfortable, but this one is. Look at the details of the stitching, the leather is finished with reverse seams. This chair is heavy and robust and in very good condition.
Maarten Van Severen (1956 – 2005) is one of the best-known contemporary Belgian designers. In the late eighties he started to create furniture in his own workshop in Gent. His designs are simple, clear and well thought-out.
They reflect his quest for perfection in form, detail and execution. He prefers to call himself a maximalist – someone who unstintingly devotes all his energy and resources to achieving the desired result, even if that ultimately and perhaps inevitable appears minimalist.
