Austrian Model 1905 Dragoon Officers' Helmet

An original Austrian Model 1905 Dragoon Officers’ Helmet. Black enameled metal body with brass trim and high stamped-brass comb with a vignette of a lion in combat with a snake embossed on each side. Brass Austrian double-headed eagle front plate mounted to the helmet with threaded posts, washers and retaining nuts. Brass lion’s head chinscale bosses and leather-backed, brass oak-leaf pattern chinscales. 2 ½-inch leather sweatband and silk head lining.

Condition: Very good. Light and occasional surface cracking to the exterior black paint; all items ( front plate ; chinscale ; comb ; liner ; …) original to the helmet and not been tempered with…

Much of the Original fire golding/ gilding still remaining especially on chinscales and front plate nearly 95-100% gilding and fewer on the comb itself.
