P40 Lounge Chair by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno 1955
P40 Lounge Chair by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno 1955
Building on the success of the D70 divan at the 10th Triennale Exhibition in 1954, Borsani started working on a mechanical joint that would allow an armchair to assume different positions, especially for relaxation, with the necessary freedom of movement.
The P40 is a relaxing chair made from mobile elements.
A metal pedestal supports the pivoted seat and backrest, which permit all possible angles.
A foldaway element under the seat pivots outward to provide extended leg support and incorporates a pull-out metal footrest.
This is the first edition of the P40. Its upholstery has been renewed with vibrant red fabric complemented by black fabric. The armrests are made of steel and rubber. All structural parts are black lacquered metal.
The seat height of this chair ranges from 35 to 50 centimeters.
It is in very good condition with minor cracks in the rubber armrests, as shown in the pictures.
