Blue Drunken Bricklayer Vase by Whitefriars Glass
Blue Drunken Bricklayer Vase by Whitefriars Glass
This sculptural vase was designed by Geoffrey Baxter and manufactured Whitefriars Glass.
Whitefriars Glass was a London-based English glassmaker and stained-glass window manufacturer. The company existed as Whitefriars Glass from the 17th century and became well known as a result of the 19th-century Gothic Revival, which increased the demand for stained glass windows, mostly for churches. The company continued producing art glass into the 20th century before finally closing in 1980.
We date this piece back to the 1960s.
The vase features a Kingfisher Blue colour and a “drunken bricklayer” composition. It is still in very good vintage condition.
